Writer's Conference: Write Here in Ephraim

Every writer should attend great writer's conferences and Utah has some of the best. This one I just learned about last year and made it a point to get involved. I had a blast! Ephraim may be a small town in central Utah, but the experience their writer's conference offers is anything but small. It comes with interactive classes, one on one instruction, and tips from some of the best authors out there. Located at Snow College, you actually feel like you are going to school to learn your writing craft. It is a terrific way to meet and mingle with local publishers and get the ins and outs from local authors and illustrators. Did I mention they have door prizes!?

This year I will be presenting at WHIE, and I couldn't be more delighted. What to expect from me? I will be a part of this year's Writing Camp (personal feedback from writing professionals on your writing project!) And I will be instructing two terrifically amazing classes:

Indie Book Covers:

Everyone judges a book by its cover—and so should you! With the rise of popularity in indie
publishing, many authors are making mistakes in their cover designs. Join author/illustrator and freelance cover designer, Mikey Brooks, as he shares specific things to look for when crafting a killer book cover. Mikey will discuss the top mistakes indie authors make and how to avoid them, how to make and find eye catching cover art, the ins and outs of typography, and tips to help sell to your book to a specific genre. This is a class you do not want to miss if you are an indie or want to be an indie author.

Picture Books:

Have you ever wanted to write a picture book but don’t know where to start? If so this is the class for you. Join author/illustrator, Mikey Brooks, as he shares the 5 plots of picture books, storyboarding technics, and the basics to getting starting in crafting your own picture book. From words to illustration, you will leave with a better understanding on what makes pictures so magical for kids.

There are a ton of great things for you to learn at this conference so I invite you to take a look at the website: http://writehereinephraim.weebly.com/
